Lynton Barker

Executive Chairman

Lynton serves as the Executive Chairman of Active Risk Group plc, responsible for overall company strategy and leadership.


Lynton’s extensive business experience spans technology, consulting and public sector roles. Prior to Active Risk Lynton was Executive Chairman of Hedra plc, a leading business and consulting firm, where he joined the company and significantly grew revenue, resulting in Hedra being acquired by Mouchel in March 2008. Previous to Hedra, Lynton was a partner and head of Consulting in the UK, and sat on the main Board of PwC.


Lynton has served as a Non-Executive Director in various organizations, including SAP, and been an advisor to the UK Government Cabinet Office and Treasury on business performance and productivity.


Andrew Darby

Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operations Officer

Andrew is responsible for finance, HR, and operations at Active Risk.


Andrew is a senior finance and operations executive with extensive experience across the technology sector. Prior to joining Active Risk, Andrew held several financial positions with Misys plc, a leading banking and capital markets software firm, including Chief Financial Officer of Misys Risk Management Systems in California and European Financial Controller. Prior to Misys, Andrew was financial controller for Generali SpA, the global financial services firm, and held senior level roles with the English & American Group, Coopers & Lybrand and started his career at Marks & Spencer as a commercial manager.


Andrew holds a Masters Degree from Magdelene College in Cambridge and is qualified chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand.


Loren Padelford

Executive Vice President & GM

Loren is responsible for all customer-facing activities at Active Risk including sales, marketing, services, partners and customer success.


Loren has a broad track record of success in technology, advertising and business services. Prior to joining Active Risk, Loren was Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Global Sales Director for Dyadem International, a leading enterprise HSE software provider. Loren was a key member of the leadership team and instrumental in the growth of the business, which led to the acquisition of Dyadem by IHS (NYSE:IHS) in April of 2011. Prior to Dyadem, Loren was National Sales Manager at Recall Corp, Sr. Director of Sales & Account Management at advertising firm Uthink and started his career selling photocopiers with Ricoh Corp.


Loren holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Liverpool Management School, a Bachelors of Psychology from the University of Guelph and is a Certified Sales Professional.


Darren Thorpe

Chief Technology Officer

Darren leads all technology functions at Active Risk, including product management, product development and customer support.


Darren recently returned to Active Risk as Chief Technology Officer after an 18 month sabbatical during which time he gained his Commercial Pilot’s License (Frozen ATPL), and is now a competition and display pilot.


Darren joined Active Risk as one of our leading management consultants and architects of the Active Risk Manager (ARM) solution. Prior to Active Risk, Darren was a command and control developer at BAE Sema, and a lead developer for Ferranti Syseca working on nuclear reactor systems.


Darren holds an MSc in Computer Science, and a BSc in International Politics and Strategic Studies from the University of Wales.


Chris Bell

Chief Marketing Officer

Chris leads marketing strategy, brand strategy and marketing communications for Active Risk. He is responsible for positioning the organization for record-breaking growth and evangelizing Enterprise Risk Management.


Prior to Active Risk, Chris served as the VP of Product Strategy & Management at Deltek (an ERP solutions provider for project-driven businesses) and was the youngest member of the senior management team. Chris is a rising star and was put on the fast-track at organizations such as Deltek, Oracle, Primavera, Iron Mountain and URS Corporation due to his innovative ideas, passion for technology and tenacity for results.


Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mansfield University, and has completed graduate work at Boston University and Oklahoma State University. He holds certifications from Project Management Institute, the Construction Industry Institute and Arizona State University. Chris is also a published author of many books, articles and whitepapers including EVM for Dummies.



Nick Scully

Vice President, Sales – EMEA & Asia Pacific

Nick is responsible for driving all revenue generating activities in the EMEA and APAC regions for Active Risk.


Nick has extensive Sales Management experience having worked for leading technology firms in Europe and around the world. Before joining Active Risk, Nick was EVP Sales for security software provider BeCrypt and held previous roles as Sales Director for SAP UK and Ireland, and Managing Director and VP Sales for Europe North at Lawson Software. Nick began his technology sales career at Computer Associates and has worked in the technology sector for over 20 years.


Nick holds an BA in History from the University of Wales
